Courtney Abbott (they/she) is an actor in the midwest who spent twelve years performing in the Catharsis Productions show Sex Signals. She traveled worldwide to college campuses and military bases, rallying communities to identify and interrupt gender-based violence. The award-winning program was groundbreaking in its use of comedy and interactive education to raise awareness around consent and sexual assault prevention.
They used the copious airline miles collected during this job to travel around the world. In 2018 they entered the MFA program at Ohio University where they expanded their extensive knowledge of cultivating a culture of consent. Since graduating with her MFA, Courtney has been living and working in Chicago as an actor, intimacy director/coordinator, and fight choreographer. She is excited to do more work as a voice over actor. |
Courtney Abbott conducted several successful intimacy sessions with the participants of SITI Company's four-week intensive training program in Saratoga Springs. The results of her work were immediately visible in the care and consciousness that each person brought to the consequent Viewpoints sessions. We are grateful for her wisdom and generosity. - Anne Bogart
